Billy Carl Volner, 88, of Harrisburg, Arkansas departed this life Friday~ August 23, 2024, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Billy was born February 5, 1936, in Harrisburg, Arkansas the son of William Floyd and Alma Leona (Kersey) Volner. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: J. R. Volner and Tommy Volner, four sisters: Mildred Crosskno, Nancy Cox, Patsy Johnson, and Imogene Douglas. Billy married Shirley Ann Hunt on June 26, 1959, and they have enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage. Billy is a member of Anderson Tully Baptist Church. Billy was a Southern Baptist Minister for some 12 years, worked 20 years in the Security Division in Jonesboro. Billy also served in the United States Air Force for 8 years as an Airman First Class in the record supply department. Billy earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Draughon Business College in Memphis, Tennessee. He enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of the home in Harrisburg, Shirley (Hunt) Volner, one son, Greg Volner of Harrisburg, two daughters: Debra Ann Mangis and husband David, also of Harrisburg, and Laura Leigh Wofford and husband John of South Dakota, four grandchildren: Madeleine Volner, Jordan Volner, Sarah Wofford, and David Wofford, two step-grandchildren: Stephanie (Mangis) Cook and Melissa Mangis, and one Great-Grandchild, Lincoln Wofford. Graveside Service will be Tuesday ~ August 27, 2024, at 10:00 A. M. at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Park Cemetery at Birdeye, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Jackson’s Funeral Home.
