Obituary: Thomas Maynard Black

Thomas Maynard Black, (10/26/1964-8/24/2024) passed away suddenly due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Aug. 24, 2024. He was born in Port Chester, NY October 26, 1964.

He was predeceased by his parents, James and Marie Black. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mae. He is also survived by his devoted daughter, Jessica. His brother Christopher Black (Renee) of Batesville, Arkansas; sister, Lynn Black Turnbull (Matthew) of Campbell Hall, NY; brother, James Black (Shelley) of Batesville, Arkansas; and sister Sally Black of Montgomery, NY. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Fred Serneo (Helen), brother-in-law, Dante Serneo (Cecile) and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and grand nieces.

Tom graduated from Batesville High School, Batesville, Arkansas, in 1983. He continued his education at ASU Jonesboro, Arkansas, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in science and from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, with a Master’s degree in science. He worked as an environmental chemist.

He loved to travel, and he and Mae had many adventures around the world. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, Uncle, and friend to everyone who knew him. His big smile and loving personality will be missed forever. Funeral services will be held at the family’s convenience.
