UPDATE, Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, 3 p.m.: The boil order has been lifted.

EARLIER: The Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed that the Cushman Water System has issued a boil water notice for its entire distribution system.

The City of Cushman said the notice was issued as a precaution after a waterline break may have allowed contaminated water to enter the system.

All customers in the Cushman Water System are advised that the water may be unsafe for consumption. Officials said water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled for at least one minute before use. Additionally, any ice cubes made with tap water should be discarded, and only boiled or bottled water should be used to make ice.

The city said the boil water notice will remain in effect until the issue is resolved and tests confirm the water is safe.
