Melbourne man dies after Jeep hits tree over weekend

Arkansas State Police said a Melbourne man was killed Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident on State Highway 9 in Izard County.

According to the fatality report, Gary Raney, 68, of Melbourne, died when his southbound 2004 Jeep left the roadway, crossed a private drive, traveled into a wooded area, and struck a tree.

State police said the weather was clear, and the road was dry at the time of the accident, which was reported to have occurred at 3 p.m.
