Larry Davis, 89, of Batesville passed away on September 10, 2024.

He was born September 24, 1934, in Jonesboro to Charles Roscoe Davis and Eula Mae (Daniels) Davis.

Larry was a veteran of the US Army and was an Electronic Technician for Southwestern Bell for 28 years and was also a rural mail carrier. He loved sports, played basketball, was an All-State football player in high school and loved watching NBA Basketball. He was slow and methodical. Larry was also a strong-willed, loving, and selfless man who was always more concerned about what he could give rather than what he could get. This is how he modeled his faith in Christ. Larry was the epitome of a ”good and faithful servant”.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Showalter (Michelle) of Batesville, Arkansas John Showalter (Debbie) of Nashville, Tennessee; one brother, James R. Davis of Conway, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Thomas Showalter (Nichole), Matthew Showalter (Ashley), Spencer Showalter (Bethany); one great-grandson, four great-granddaughters, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years, Cathy Showalter Davis, and one sister, Coralie Wimpy.

Pallbearers are Thomas Showalter, Matthew Showalter, Blake Weston, Taylor Weston, Tim Davis, and Will Davis.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00 am with Randy Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Lees Chapel Cemetery on Hwy 25.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time.
