Highland School District officials have canceled Friday night’s football game following a serious crash involving a student, according to Jonesboro’s Region 8 News.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) reported that the crash, involving an 18-wheeler, occurred around 7:15 a.m. on U.S. Highway 63, approximately 4.7 miles north of the U.S. Highway 62 junction near Hardy. ARDOT said it took about 3.5 hours to clear the scene.

In addition to canceling the game against Riverview, officials postponed a Hall of Fame induction ceremony set for 4:30 p.m. Friday. They also canceled Saturday’s ACT testing, and the senior high volleyball team will not participate in the tournament at Cave City.

A school district representative confirmed that the student was involved in the crash, adding that more information will be released later. The district said school personnel and counselors are available to support our students and staff as needed throughout the day.
