Arkansas State Police officials have released more information on Friday morning’s crash in Fulton County that claimed the life of a Highland School District student.

The female minor — whose name and age were not listed — was driving a Chevrolet Silverado traveling south on U.S. 63 around 7 a.m. when the truck lost control while negotiating a curve, according to the fatality report. The passenger side of the Silverado collided with the front of a northbound Kenworth, the report said.

The report noted the road was wet at the time of the accident.

According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation, the accident occurred approximately 4.7 miles north of the U.S. 62 junction near Hardy on U.S. 63. The department said it took about 3.5 hours to clear the scene.

Highland School District officials canceled Friday night’s football game against Riverview following the crash. In addition to canceling the game, officials postponed a Hall of Fame induction ceremony set for Friday afternoon. Saturday’s ACT testing was also canceled, and the senior high volleyball team will not participate in the tournament at Cave City, school officials said.

The district said school personnel and counselors were available throughout the day to support students and staff as needed.
