LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches (ASYR) has named Sissy Jones (above) as the recipient of the 2024 Arkansas Children’s Award. Jones will be honored during the 29th Annual Arkansas Children’s Award Dinner, scheduled for Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Little Rock Marriott Hotel.
Originally from Gillett, Ark., Jones founded Sissy’s Log Cabin in 1970 in Pine Bluff.
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe, a longtime supporter of the Ranch, will return as master of ceremonies, continuing a role he has held since the event’s inception.
The Arkansas Children’s Award, now in its 29th year, recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to improving the lives of children across the state.
This year’s award highlights Jones’ long-standing commitment to helping at-risk children and her dedication to family values.
“Sissy Jones exemplifies the values of compassion, generosity, and community that we hold so dear at the Ranch, and we are honored to present her with the 2024 Arkansas Children’s Award,” said Ray Dillon, chair of the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches board of trustees. “Her commitment to treating everyone like family, from her customers to her community, showcases her dedication to making our state a better place for future generations.”
ASYR is fully privately funded, relying on community support to provide for children’s needs, including shelter, medical care, education, food, and clothing. The Ranch aims to create lasting change for Arkansas children through its services.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at asyr.org.
