A Southside School District student is facing two misdemeanor counts of cyberbullying in connection with “very inappropriate” social media posts about the Batesville High School football team and its coach, according to K8 News.

Megan Renihan, communications coordinator for the Batesville School District, told K8 News that the prosecuting attorney’s office filed the charges on Tuesday.

According to K8 News, after Batesville Superintendent Ken James learned of the posts on Sept. 17, he immediately contacted Southside Superintendent Dion Stevens. James then spoke with local law enforcement and the state Attorney General’s Office for assistance in the investigation.

In response to the television station on Wednesday, Southside Superintendent Dion Stevens declined to comment on whether the student would face repercussions at school.
