A Salado man died of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Batesville last week that also injured one other person.

Marcos Macuixtle, 27, was driving a Ford Taurus east on Highway 25 (White Drive) when he ran a red light at the Highway 167 (St. Louis Street) intersection on Thursday morning, Sept. 19, according to the Arkansas State Police fatality report. The Taurus was then struck on the driver’s side by a Chevrolet Silverado heading south on Highway 167. The report said the Silverado driver did not have time to react or apply the brakes.

A passenger in the Taurus, identified as Lucio Botzoc, 32, of Batesville, was injured and taken to the White River Medical Center.

The weather and roads were dry at the time of the accident, which occurred just before 7 a.m.
