Carla Mae (Altom) Sutton of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the age of 62. She was born September 2, 1962, in Newport, the daughter of Jimmy Carl “Buddy” and Charlene (Wymer) Altom.

Carla was a 1980 graduate of Tuckerman High School. She was a dedicated Domestic Violence Victim Advocate at the White River Women’s Shelter for a time, later serving as a Headstart teacher at the Jackson County School District.

Carla enjoyed Bingo, gambling, bowling, and painting. She spent time watching the Game Show Network, always with a Dr. Pepper in her hand.

More than anything, Carla loved being a Nana. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlene Altom; and one brother, David Wayne Altom.

Carla is survived by two sons, Bryson Altom and wife, Carrie of Diaz, and Jeffrey “Booter” Sutton of Little Rock; one daughter, Magan Deshae Michael and husband, Tharon, of Tuckerman; four grandchildren, Zack Long, Audrey Altom, Justyce Mae Sutton, and Samuel Bryce Sutton; her father, Jimmy “Buddy” Altom of Campbell Station; her closest friend, Melanie Green; and a lifetime of friends.
There are no services planned at this time.

Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
