George Ball, 91, of Newport, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024. He was born on May 16, 1933, in Calico Rock, Arkansas, to Jodia Franklin and Rachel Gladys (Crook) Ball. A kind-hearted and devoted man, George lived a life filled with faith, love, and family.

A longtime member of Salado Baptist Church, George served as a deacon and was deeply committed to his church community. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through decades of service to others. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, humble heart, and dedication to his beliefs.

George was a passionate fisherman, spending countless hours at the water’s edge, enjoying the peace it brought him. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He treasured the family gatherings that brought his loved ones together, making lifelong memories with those closest to him.

George was married to the love of his life, Mattie, for 65 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong and loving family, and their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, whose love and guidance will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur Ball, R.D. Ball, Ishmael Ball; sisters, Mary Brooks, Rachel Brooks, Nellie Western, Effie Tinkle, and Lenora Chadwick.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mattie, of the home; son, Dale Ball (Beth) of Newport; daughters, Robbie Brightwell (Mark) of Bella Vista, and Wanda Lusk of North Little Rock; his grandchildren, Jonathan Goldman (Jeri), Zachary Goldman (Amanda), Jarrod Brightwell (Hayley), Melissa Moore (Nick), Taylor Ball (Neida); great-grandchildren, Asher Brightwell, Judah Brightwell, Maylie Gates, Lily Sterling, Kam Moore, Sebastian Ball, Elle Goldman, Ridge Goldman.

Memorial service will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11:00 at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
