Obituary: Linda Fisher

Linda Fisher, 78, of Newport, passed away in Batesville on Saturday, October 12, 2024. She was born on February 3, 1946, in Newport, Arkansas, to Benjamin Slocum and Rubye Reid.

Linda spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took immense pride in her family, finding joy in the achievements and activities of her children and grandchildren. Whether cheering at their ball games or spending time with them at family gatherings, her love and support were always evident. Her passion for stock car racing was well-known, and she cherished the excitement of race day. Her competitive spirit and zest for life were infectious, and she was always ready for a new adventure.

A woman of deep faith, Linda was a faithful member of Northside Church of Christ. Her commitment to her church community was unwavering, and her kind, compassionate nature endeared her to all who knew her. Her life was a testament to her strong values, her love for God, and her desire to help those around her.

Linda leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless others who were blessed to have known her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered by those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband David Fisher; her sisters, Jane Slocum, June Sutherland, and Eloise Tharp.

She is survived by her sons, Bryan Fisher of Batesville, Alan Fisher (Candy) of Bald Knob, and Jonathan Fisher of Searcy; grandchildren, Nicholas Fisher of Batesville, Addyson Fisher of Batesville, Hannah Roberts (Brayden) of Cabot, Austin Fisher (Kynlee) of Judsonia, Ethan Clegg (Alanna) of Virginia, and Lee Fisher of Searcy; and great-grandchild, Hayes Fisher of Judsonia.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Bryan Fisher, Nicholas Fisher, Alan Fisher, Austin Fisher, Jerry Adams, and Ethan Clegg.  Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Fisher and Lee Fisher.

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with Mitch Reid officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Watson Cemetery.
