Huey ”Red” Gilbert, 96, passed from this life on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was born on Thursday, December 16, 1927, to Noles and Bertha (George) Gilbert in Timbo, Arkansas. Red loved gardening, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler as well as raising cows, hogs and chickens, but he found the most joy in spending time with his family and friends. He was always on the go but he never hesitated to stop and visit with people and share his advice. As he got older he enjoyed sitting on his front porch or visiting the Senior center during the day and venturing downtown to listen to music at different locations around the square in the evenings. He worked for Armor Packing, GMAC, and drove cars for Buddy Lackey but he was best known for his fruit stand where he sold the best peaches, tomatoes and sweet potatoes around. Red was also known fondly as the ”dumpling maker” as his dumplings were a favorite at any potluck or family event. He was a member of Vine Avenue Baptist Church. Red will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
