An experienced educator with extended training in literacy and reading science has been appointed as the new elementary program director at Montessori Christian Academy (MCA).
The academy’s school board announced Sabrina McCorkle’s appointment to the position last week.
McCorkle brings over 18 years of experience teaching in both private and public schools, and she is certified to teach up to 6th grade and manages Montessori Christian Academy’s elementary curriculum and instruction, comprising students in 1st grade and above.
Sabrina lives in Patterson, Ark., with her husband and two children. She describes teaching as “an absolute calling of mine. I enjoy watching children have those lightbulb moments, and I love teaching about Jesus.”
“We are delighted to welcome Sabrina to MCA,” said MCA School Board President Stan Fretwell. “As a member of our team, we are confident that her passion for education and her commitment to nurturing the minds and hearts of our students will make a lasting impact on the lives entrusted to us – just as it did for my children and many others in the past. At MCA, we believe in the profound importance of integrating faith with education. Our mission is to provide not only academic excellence but also spiritual growth for our students, equipping them to become future Christ-like leaders in our communities. Each day, we strive to foster a learning environment rooted in Christian values, where the love of Christ is reflected in everything we do.”
McCorkle joins Sara Wilson, primary program director and a certified Montessori educator with 14 years of teaching experience, and Ambra Hannah, assistant teacher, and Tammy Adams, teacher’s aide.
The primary program enrolls children age 2 ½ to 6 years old. Both programs employ Montessori teaching methods which emphasize children’s natural curiosity, multi-sensory learning with natural materials, and fostering confident learners in a nurturing child-centered environment.
Founded in 2006, the school became known as Montessori Christian Academy in 2014. MCA is a private school dedicated to holistic Montessori education grounded in Christian principles.
