Gearld Leon Hill, resident of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the age of 84. Gearld was born in Egypt, Arkansas on June 3, 1940, the son of Oliver R. and Bessie Letha (Brown) Hill.
Gearld and the former Miss Sharon Lake were united in marriage on July 3, 1961, and the couple was blessed with 55 years together prior to Sharon’s passing in 2016. Gearld worked as a welder and a trucker driver, retiring in 2020. Gearld was of the Baptist faith, most recently attending Drover Cowboy Church in Harrisburg. He was a Freemason and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and going on cruises. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Hill; parents, Oliver and Bessie Hill; six brothers, Robert, Billy Wayne, James Russell, Roy, Oliver, and Danny Hill; and five sisters, Louise, Joyce, Marie, Lucille, and Jewell.
He is survived by a son, Jerry Hill and wife, Jeannie, of Lake City; four daughters, Kathy Hill and wife, Kristen Sloan, of Harrisburg, Karen John and husband, Jerry, of Oklahoma, Jeannie Crawford and husband, Jimmy, of Harrisburg, and Rebecka House and husband, Johnathan, of Harrisburg; a brother, Elvis Hill and wife, Kim, of Florida; a sister, Sharon Kay Kelley of Oklahoma; a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Jackson’s Funeral Home chapel in Harrisburg. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park.
Friends may visit the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024.
