Obituary: Vera Mae ”Granny” Vickery

Vera Mae ”Granny” Vickery, 88, of Melbourne, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024.

She was born October 4, 1936, in Sage, Arkansas to Clyde and Mellie (Moser) Shaver.

Vera took pride in whatever she did; she was a hard worker and cleaned the church at Macedonia Freewill Baptist where she was a faithful member for over 60 years. She was loving and very independent. Vera loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of all their achievements and accomplishments. She had a green thumb, loved to garden and especially enjoyed her flowers.

Survivors include two sons, Greg Vickery (Fern) of Sage, Alan Vickery (Phyllis) of Sage; one daughter, Susan Crouch (Tim) of Wiseman; two sisters, Ann Johnson of Mount Pleasant, and Betty Cook of Cushman; seven grandchildren, Amy Jines, Laura Lawrence, Paige Vickery, Andrew Vickery, Samantha Wilkes, Leslie Watson, and Megan Crouch; eight great-grandchildren, Landon Jines, Cory Jines, Abbie Mae Lawrence, Ty Lawrence, Callie Lawrence, Asher Vickery, Elijah Wilkes, and Lilly Ward, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ishmael Vickery; one brother, Leroy Shaver; two sisters, Gaye Williams, Clyda Brooks, and an infant granddaughter.

Pallbearers are Andrew Vickery, Landon Jines, Cory Jines, Elijah Wilkes, Ty Lawrence, and Nathan Woodall.

A graveside service will begin at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 7, 2024, under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home at Reeves Pine Grove Cemetery with Bobby Shepherd officiating.
