The National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock has extended the flood warning for the White River at Newport and Batesville.
Minor flooding is forecast for the White River at Newport. As of 9 a.m. Thursday, the stage was 23.7 feet. The river is expected to rise above the flood stage of 26 feet this evening and crest at 27.5 feet early Friday afternoon.
In Batesville, the NWS reported a stage of 14.6 feet Thursday morning. Forecasters said agricultural land along the river could experience minor flooding, but the river is expected to drop below flood stage Thursday, falling to 6.4 feet by Tuesday morning.

Remember: Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
