Applications for this year’s Christmas Brings Hope in Independence County are now being accepted through Nov. 25.
The annual food drive also collects items and monetary donations for boxes of groceries that will be distributed to approved applicants on Dec. 14.
Christmas Brings Hope board members Dave Timko (above, left) and Ted Hall (right) recently visited with White River Now’s Sean Peer on Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ about this year’s drive. Listen below to their conversation.
Each year, county and city organizations, along with county schools, help with the food drive by collecting donated canned goods and nonperishable food items. Those collections are combined with $20,000 to $25,000 worth of staple food items purchased by the Christmas Brings Hope board for the 1,000-plus boxes that will be prepared for distribution.
Food will also be collected at the Independence County Fairgrounds on Dec. 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Applications for Christmas Brings Hope can be picked up at the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Independence County Library, and the Batesville office of the White River Area Agency on Aging.
An application can also be completed online (click here) and mailed to Christmas Brings Hope.
Monetary contributions are welcome for the Christmas Brings Hope program by sending a donation in care of “Christmas Brings Hope,” and to Citizens Bank, 655 St. Louis St., Batesville, AR, 72501, or First Community Bank, 1325 Harrison St., Batesville, AR, 72501.
