A large crowd was on hand at the First Community Bank boardroom in Batesville Wednesday to celebrate Batesville pitcher and 2025 graduate Mark Brissey signing to be an Arkansas Razorback. Family, friends, coaches, First Community Bank employees, and others gathered in the bank’s board room to watch Brissey put pen to paper on National Signing Day.
According to Perfect Game.org, Brissey, the nation’s No. 110 overall prospect in the 2025 class, has “a solid three-pitch mix” and a nice curveball/change-up combo.
In an interview with Region 8 Sports, Brissey discussed why he chose the University of Arkansas.
“Obviously, the culture. They win, they have good coaching staffs, great facilities, and the main reason was, to me, it’s my hometown state — like [being] from Batesville, Arkansas…I’ve been going up there since I was a little baby, so it was always a dream, and as soon as I got the chance, I took it,” he said.

Brissey will soon join Gage Wood, another Pioneer on the Razorbacks roster. When Brissey pledged to become a Razorback in August 2021, he said one reason for his decision would be fellow Pioneer teammate Gage Wood’s presence on the roster, while another would be the strength and dedication of the Razorbacks fan base.
“The thing I love about Arkansas so much is the fan base is so engaged,” Brissey told Dudley Dawson of WholeHogSports at the time. “That was really important to me. I also have a lot of friends that go there and are going to go there. It is going to be a really good feeling. I already know that.”
Brissey has also been a member of the Arkansas Sticks, the scout team for the Chicago White Sox. In 2023, Brissey was the only Arkansan participating in the inaugural Prep Baseball Report High School All-American Game in Milwaukee.
Mark Brissey’s signing ceremony was held on Wednesday in a packed First Community Bank boardroom.
The overflow crowd called the Hogs during the signing event.
