Entergy Arkansas has donated $967.61 to the Old Independence Regional Museum, a contribution aimed at supporting the museum’s upcoming programs for the local community.

The museum’s scheduled events include a cookie decorating contest, children’s crafts, quilting activities, and a Family Day, all of which are free of charge to the public.

The museum’s holiday lineup begins with National Cookie Day on Dec. 4, featuring a cookie decorating contest and a Children’s Craft Day. On Dec. 5, a take-home quilting craft will be available, and Family Day is set for Dec. 14. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a quilt walk on Main Street and at the museum throughout November and December.

According to a release announcing the donation, the Old Independence Regional Museum focuses on preserving and showcasing artifacts and archives related to the history of Independence County. It offers a range of educational exhibits and programs aimed at making history accessible and engaging for all ages.

Brandi Hinkle, Entergy Arkansas public affairs representative, emphasized the company’s commitment to strengthening the communities it serves through philanthropy, volunteerism, and advocacy.

“We are thrilled to announce our most recent charitable grant to Old Independence Regional Museum,” said Hinkle. “As a company, our mission is to continually improve the communities we serve and is also reflected through our philanthropy, volunteerism and advocacy.

“We do that by investing in solutions through our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives that attack the root causes of poverty, support education and workforce development, and protect and preserve the environment,” Hinkle said. “This collaboration with Old Independence Regional Museum demonstrates the dedication of Entergy Arkansas to building bright futures for all our customers and being good corporate citizens.”

The recent grant aligns with Entergy’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, which prioritize education, workforce development, poverty alleviation, and environmental stewardship. The company has a longstanding history of community support, marking its 110th anniversary this November with $110,000 donations to six partner nonprofits and nearly $2 million in grants to more than 100 organizations throughout the year. Entergy employees and retirees also volunteered over 29,000 hours of service in 2023.

Entergy Arkansas, the state’s largest electricity provider, serves more than 730,000 customers across 63 counties.
