Event focused on players, teams, and community support for an exciting season ahead

Southside School District marked the beginning of basketball season with its Basketball Media Day on Monday.

Players, coaches, and community members gathered at the Southside Auxiliary Gym to highlight the district’s athletic programs. The event featured the boys’ and girls’ senior basketball teams, the Southside Steppers dance team, and community supporters.

Rock Town Media documented the day by taking photos of the teams and dance group. Southside Sonic, represented by Jeanne and Jeremy Adams (pictured above, with some Southerner athletes), provided refreshments for athletes and coaches. Chris Vines from 99.5 YourFM was also present to conduct interviews and build excitement around the event.

“I enjoyed the chance to get to know these players before the season heats up,” said Vines, who will broadcast game coverage on 99.5 YourFM. “Days like today can really get a program hyped.”

Adams said he was happy Southside Sonic’s involvement added to the day.

“Southside Sonic is always proud to support the school,” said Adams, and we are looking forward to a great spring sports season.”

Among the athletes, 10th grader Scarlett Taylor from the girls basketball team shared her enthusiasm.

“This was so much fun, and I can’t wait to do it again next year. Bring on basketball season.”
