Gallery 246 has announced Brice Stephens as its guest artist for November and December. A native of Desha, Stephens has been creating art on glass windows for 25 years and is a former student of gallery founder Aline McCracken.
Stephens works primarily with old windows, using ink and acrylic paint to create reverse paintings on glass. Unlike traditional canvas painting, Stephens begins with the foreground of the image and works backward, a technique that defines his unique style.
Stephens said “having fun and experimenting with technique and always evolving” is his motto.
“When it comes to art, if you are not having fun, then stop and come back later.”
He cites Mark Gonzales and David Choe as his biggest artistic influences.
The exhibit will feature Stephens’s work, which will be displayed in the gallery windows through the end of December.
A reception honoring Stephens will be held at Gallery 246 on Dec. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m.
