Teresa Yates (pictured above, right, with Citizens Bank’s Community Engagement Officer Ashley Engles on the left), a third-grade classroom teacher at Eagle Mountain, was named the November recipient of the Citizens Bank “Above & Beyond” award.

In a release, Citizens Bank said Yates’s dedication, compassion, and inclusive teaching truly shine through, making her an invaluable member of the staff at West Elementary. Her peers said:

  • “Teresa exemplifies the qualities of a remarkable teacher who consistently puts her students first, ensuring their everyday needs are met with genuine care and compassion. She teaches with her heart, dedicating herself 100% to her students’ success and well-being. Her passion for teaching and unwavering support for her students makes her an invaluable asset to our school.”
  • “Teresa is always going above and beyond for students in her classroom. She teaches with a heart for every child that passes through her room, and she has a passion for their learning. She works tirelessly to figure out ways to reach her students and motivates them to want to be life-long learners.”
  • “Teresa is an unbelievable resource for any need you could imagine. She instructs in a way that includes all, and the students are made to feel successful in her learning environment.”

Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who go “above and beyond” to realize the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges. Staff in all schools and departments throughout the district nominate award recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Batesville School Board meeting each month.
