The Batesville Kiwanis Club will celebrate the chartering of Batesville’s first Aktion Club, a service organization for adults with disabilities, during a ceremony on Dec. 16.

The event, open to the public, will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nursing and Allied Health Building lecture hall on the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB) campus. It will include the installation of the club’s inaugural officers, a formal chartering ceremony, and a reception.

Part of Kiwanis International, Aktion Club is the only service organization for adults with disabilities. The club empowers its members to develop leadership skills by working together on community service projects. With over 340 chapters worldwide, Aktion Club spans 13 nations and serves over 6,430 aspiring leaders.

“The founding of Batesville’s Aktion Club speaks to our community’s commitment to inclusivity and service,” said Alexandra McClain, a Batesville Kiwanis Club member. “We’re excited to support our new chapter and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our community and the lives of its members.”

Light refreshments will be served, and the Kiwanis Club encourages all community members to attend and show their support.

The Batesville Kiwanis Club, established in 1928, is known for its community projects, including the Chubby Menard Pancake Day, the Batesville Christmas Parade, and programs that promote youth sports and literacy.
