Billy Ray Lindsey, 75, of Walnut Grove passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, in Batesville. He was born May 28, 1949, in Batesville to Wilbert and Effie (Williams) Lindsey. Billy served in many areas; as a deacon at Cord Baptist Church, JP on the Independence County Quorum Court, a constable, Cord Water board member, retired Captain with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office and a bus driver. The greatest achievement in his life was a Christian, husband, father, grandpa “papaw”, great grandpa, brother and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bonnie Stone.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Jean Lindsey of the home; one son, Rodney Lindsey of Walnut Grove; two twin daughters, Misty Lindsey (Jason Fike) of Rosie and Christy Lindsey of Walnut Grove; one brother, Jimmy Lindsey (Darlene) of Jonesboro; one sister, Wiladean Coyne of Folsom, LA; nine grandchildren, Tyler Lindsey, Brayden Lindsey, Tatum Lindsey, Logan Hutchison, Legan Hutchison, Lindsey Hutchison, John McDoniel, Justin Fike (Allie) and Alex Fike (Olivia); two great-grandchildren, Marlie McDoniel and Braylen Fike along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cord Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Grove Cemetery.

Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Corey Lindsey, Wayne Smith, Tommy Stone, Jerry Coyne, Tony Stone, Danny Burns, Shannon Holland and Jason Fike.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the former law enforcement officers/deputies of Independence, Sharp, White and Jackson Counties and the Band of Brothers of Cord Baptist Church.
