Mrs. Jeannie (Smith) George of Cabot, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born July 7, 1941 in Newport, the daughter of Dan and Nettie (Harper) Smith.
Mrs. George graduated from Newport High School and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Arkansas State University. She dedicated her career to serving as the Director of the Head Start program in Newport and Jackson County, retiring in 2001 after 23 years of service.
Mrs. George enjoyed playing Bingo and watching the WWE. She especially loved getting together with her family, always greeting them with a huge hug.
She was a member of Grace Fellowship at Cabot, Arkansas.
Mrs. George was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Lee George, Sr.; one granddaughter, Rebecca Gonzales; one brother, Dan Smith, Jr.; one sister, Geraldine Rains; and her parents.
She is survived by one son, Tommy Lee George, Jr., and wife, Janice of Collegeville, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Stacy Lee Headley and husband, Stephen of Cabot; three grandchildren, Daniel Roberts and wife, Heather of Tuckerman, Angela Thigpen of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Nicole Lepisto and husband, Joseph of Lititz, Pennsylvania; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her special friends, Pat and Marsalene; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Memorial services will be Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel.
