Cody Smith, chairman of the Independence County Republican Committee, announced on Monday he will seek re-election as the committee’s chairman in January 2025.
Smith, currently serving his first term as chairman, is a sixth-generation Arkansan and a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He manages Vision Billboards and is active in the Arkansas Young Republicans, serving as chapter chair. He is also a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. In a statement, Smith described himself as a lifelong conservative and a staunch Republican.
Smith has served on the Republican Party of Arkansas’ Budget and Platform committees and is a member of the Arkansas Young Republicans Executive Committee. He has volunteered for Republican campaigns across Arkansas and the United States, making voter contacts and assisting candidates during the most recent election cycle.
In the statement, Smith emphasized the county’s Republican leadership and his plans for the committee’s future.
“Today, I announce my decision to seek re-election as the Chairman of the Independence County Republican Committee,” Smith said. “Independence County is a Republican stronghold. I am proud that not a single Democrat or Independent candidate filed for county office during the 2024 election filing period. We have Republicans representing us at every level of government. It has been an honor to serve the people of Independence County in this role, and I look forward to continuing the work of the committee. That’s why I’m asking for our members’ support for re-election as chair.”
The committee’s election is set for January 2025.
