Glenda L. Womack, 82, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, peacefully, at Stone County Medical Center. She was born July 17th, 1942, in Beedeville, Arkansas, to Burley and Annie (Gossett) Holbrooks.
Glenda was a Christian and of the Missionary Baptist faith. She was a member of the Fifty-Six Missionary Baptist Church. Glenda met the love of her life, and married Richard Kenneth Womack six weeks later. She became a proud Navy wife who loved her husband dearly. She and her husband lived in Japan, Virginia, Hawaii, and Memphis before moving to Mountain View, in 2006. While living in Memphis, she worked as an Executive Vice President for Treadwell & Harry Insurance Agency. Once moving to Mountain View, she became the President of the Mountain View Historical Society. She was big into genealogy and enjoyed working with the deep roots that ran in Mountain View. One time Glenda helped organize a cookbook with old-time recipes from long-time Stone County residents. This cookbook would help raise funds for the museum. Glenda enjoyed singing and playing the autoharp, going to church, buying antique tapestry and making pillows, and listening to music on the square. She was also a skilled and excellent seamstress. She was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Burley and Annie Holbrooks; one sister, Verla Ann Holbrooks.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Richard Kenneth Womack (Ken) of the home; one sister, Wylodine Davis of Mountain View, Arkansas; one brother, James Hershel Holbrooks; two nephews, Clint Davis of Clarksville, Tennessee and Steve Davis of Memphis, Tennessee; one niece, Carman Sinclair. She is also survived by other extended relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 20th, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 2:00, at the First Assembly of God “The Dome Church” in Mountain View, Arkansas. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Brother Rob Arnold and Brother Mike Carroll will officiate the service. Interment will take place at the Historic Cemetery of Mountain View.
Pallbearers are Mike Carroll, Jack Vance, Brent Nichols, Bruce Clinkingbeard, Kevin Green, and Haydon Green.
