Obituary: Jack Noras Patterson

Jack Noras Patterson, 87, passed away on December 19, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 25, 1937, in Cedar Grove, AR, to the late Clarence Lafayette Patterson and Virginia “Virgie” (James) Patterson. Jack was a member of the US Army National Guard. He loved being outdoors, and when he was younger, he enjoyed playing basketball. Jack wore a lot of hats throughout his life. He was a plumber, built gas stations, and sold fireworks in the summertime. Jack also drove the church bus for Desha. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything else.

Jack is survived by his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Patterson; daughters, Susan Matthews (Greg) and Lisa Janes; grandchildren, Presley Janes, Mollie Richardson, and Zach Matthews; great-grandchildren, Drew “Bingo” Lane Richardson, Laken Lee Richardson, Lydia Matthews, Dawson Matthews, and AshLee Matthews; sisters, Peggy Ross and Clara Cossey; and several extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, J.C. Patterson and Charles Patterson; an infant sister, Gertha Faye; an infant great-grandson, Tate Andrew Richardson; best friend, Doug Presley; and brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Floyd Salter.

There will be a visitation held at Willis Funeral Service Chapel on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 1 PM to 2 PM. The funeral service, officiated by John Sanders, will begin at 2 PM. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are AshLee Matthews, Dawson Matthews, Jack Sanders, Terry Woolridge, Kenny Salter, and Kevin Salter. Honorary pallbearers are Zach Matthews, Greg Matthews, Jerry and Jan Richardson, and Nathan Richardson
