Virginia Mae (Ross) Swan of Swifton, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. She was born April 5, 1937 in Swifton, the daughter of Toliver and Bessie Mae (Tatum) Ross.
Miss Virginia Mae Ross married Mr. Arthur Andrew Swan, Jr. on Thursday, October 1, 1953, and together they built a family and enjoyed 58 years of marriage.
She spent 18 years working for Walmart and worked 15 years managing the Dollar General store.
Mrs. Swan was an avid reader who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and working in her yard. She especially loved mowing the lawn. As a beloved grandmother, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Swan was an active member of the Swifton Assembly of God, where she often helped prepare and serve meals for families during their time of need.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Arthur Andrew Swan, Jr.; her daughter, Patricia Ann Looney; one brother, Ernest Ross; one sister, Elwanda Hardin; and her parents.
Mrs. Swan is survived by her son, Ricky Swan and wife, Kathy of Newport; her son-in-law, Steve Looney of Oil Trough; three grandchildren, Zack Swan and wife, Heather of Newport, Tyler Swan of Possum Grape, and Brittany Sullins and husband, Erik of Honolulu, Hawaii; three great-great-grandchildren, Addisen Sullins, Emily Swan, and Hudson Wade Swan; one brother, Marvin Ross of Newport; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, on Monday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Swifton Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Steve Looney, Zack Swan, Tyler Swan, Hudson Swan, Albert Hendrick, and Brandon Hardin. Honorary pallbearers are Addisen Sullins, Emily Swan and Marvin Ross.
