The Stone County Sheriff’s Office has announced a memorial service to honor Deputy Justin Smith, who was killed in the line of duty one year ago.
Deputy Smith, a 14-year veteran of the department, was shot and killed on January 2, 2024, while serving a warrant in Stone County.
The service will be Jan. 2, 2025, at noon at the Stone County Courthouse on Main Street. In the event of inclement weather, it will be moved to the upstairs portion of the old courthouse, also on Main Street.
