Obituary: Margie Breckenridge

Margie Breckenridge, 72, of Newport, passed away on December 27, 2024. Born on July 16, 1952, in Newport, she was the treasured daughter of Adolph (Red) and Mary Irene (Bagwell) Allen.

Margie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. She had a deep love for her family and found immense joy in spending time with them. Family gatherings filled with laughter, games like Rummy or Yahtzee, and lovingly prepared meals were her greatest delight.

Margie also had a passion for gardening, finding peace and purpose in tending to her flowers. Her cooking was a testament to her love, bringing people together over comforting meals. An animal lover, Margie adored her dogs, whose companionship brought her much happiness throughout her life.

Her generous heart, quick smile, and love for life will be dearly missed by her family and the many friends she made over the years.

Margie is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, David A. McAllister and V.H. Breckenridge; her brother, Billy Allen; her sister, Peggy Taylor; her stepson, Jody Breckenridge.

She is survived by her son, David McAllister and his wife Stephanie of Newport; her grandchildren, Sarah Nicholson and her husband Alex of Newport, Breanna McAllister of Walnut Ridge; Christian Williams and her husband Gary of Possum Grape, Haley Nicholson and husband Josh of Newport, Jonathan Breckenridge of Newport; great-grandchildren, Josie Mae Brown, Case Williams, Waylon Williams, Amberly Nicholson, Ryland Nicholson and Jody Nicholson; her sister, Deborah Hembrey and her husband Rickey of Newport; her sister-in-law, Paulette Allen of Searcy; her brother-in-law, Buddy Taylor of Conway; her daughter-in-law, Misty Breckenridge of Newport, and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jerry Taylor, Terry Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Caleb Linville, Landon Hood, and Blake Hood.

Service will be at 2:00 on Monday December 30, 2024, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Interment will be at Eight Mile Cemetery.
