Obituary: William O. Hamill

William O. Hamill, age 93, of Bradford, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on December 28, 2024, in Searcy. Born November 27, 1931, in Bradford, he was the cherished son of Robert Olan and Thelma (Durham) Hamill.

A proud Navy veteran, Mr. Hamill served his country with honor and carried the values of discipline and commitment throughout his life. A faithful member of the Bradford Church of Christ, he exemplified a life rooted in faith and kindness, touching the lives of all who knew him.

Known for his love of the outdoors, Mr. Hamill found joy in the simple yet fulfilling pleasures of life. He spent countless peaceful hours setting out fishing nets and tending to his garden, where his green thumb brought beauty and nourishment to those around him. He also enjoyed solving puzzles, a pastime that reflected his sharp mind and patient nature.

In his leisure time, Mr. Hamill was an enthusiastic fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his beloved team. He also had a passion for westerns, finding inspiration and entertainment in tales of resilience and adventure.

Mr. Hamill’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and quiet strength. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the Bradford community, who were blessed by his steady wisdom and gentle spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathline Hamill, one daughter Lisa Lance, one granddaughter Kelsee Sawrie, one brother Richard Hamill, and two sisters: Shirley Ghyers and Oma Lee Zarback.

He is survived by his son William Hamill and wife Cyanne of Searcy, two daughters: Sherry Weeks and husband Ray of McRae, Jill Sawrie and husband Steven of Bradford, one sister Carolyn Greenlee and husband Sam of North Carolina,  five grandchildren: Kyle Berry, Alesha Berry Sawrie, Corey Lance, Kali Payne, Courtney Hamill, five great-grandchildren: Hunter Berry, Alana Sawrie, Elizabeth Berry, Ava Rae Payne, and Kelsee Jo Payne.

The family would like to thank Dad’s caregivers, Angie Toddy and Delayna Woodson as well as his nurses and therapists from Unity Home Health in Newport.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 Saturday, January 4, 2024, at the Bradford Church of Christ, with interment in Heard Cemetery.
