Joshua Foss, a longtime Independence County resident, has announced his candidacy for chair of the Independence County Republican Committee.

Foss, 33, graduated Batesville Christian School with honors and earned his associate degree in industrial technology from the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, graduating magna cum laude. Currently working as an appliance field technician, Foss is also an active delegate to district and state Republican meetings and has been involved with the party since the Tea Party movement in 2010, when he campaigned for former Arkansas Rep. Trevor Drowns, and most recently, state Sen. John Payton. He also has served as a youth leader, preacher, song leader, and teacher at the Cave City Church of God for the past decade

“Passionate about my God, family, community, and nation, I cannot sit idly by when Independence County needs strong leadership that will give the voice back to the people. We can no longer allow woke ideology dance in our streets and flow through our schools,” Foss said in his announcement.

Citing education statistics that rank the county 153rd in Arkansas, with 45% of students classified as disadvantaged, Foss called for renewed efforts to address these challenges. He also emphasized the need for local businesses to operate free from government overreach.

In his statement, he also highlighted concerns he encountered while campaigning door-to-door this summer, including dissatisfaction with local leadership and high taxes.

“As I walked and knocked on doors this summer, I heard many residents concerned that they were not being heard, and that has to end. The Republican platform stands against everything previously mentioned, and we have a strong conservative voice in Independence County, but many feel it’s not being heard. That must stop. We need leadership that can unify on common goals and convictions to bring one vision, one voice back to the forefront of our community,” Foss said.
