Woman killed crossing highway in Charlotte

A 75-year-old woman died Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a highway in Independence County, authorities said.

Doris Lillard was walking north across State Highway 25 when a westbound vehicle struck her at approximately 6:14 p.m., according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.

The report noted that weather conditions were clear, and the roadway was dry at the time of the incident.

State police listed Lillard’s city of residence as Gideon.
