A structure fire on Janetta Street in Batesville Thursday afternoon resulted in the total loss of a home despite a response from multiple fire departments and neighbors.
The Batesville Fire Department was dispatched at 3:50 p.m. to reports of a fire in the residence’s attic. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof and attic area.
Southside Fire Department and Ruddell Hill Fire Department were called in for mutual aid. Firefighters worked together to contain the blaze, but the home could not be saved, the Batesville Fire Department said on their social media.
“The turnout from multiple FDs and neighbors was impressive and showed what teamwork is all about,” the fire department said in the post.
Crews remained on the scene for nearly three hours, officially clearing at 6:46 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
