An Independence County man died Sunday after a plane accident in a rural area north of Batesville.
According to officials, the man was piloting a small aircraft when it became entangled in power lines near Pfeiffer about 150 feet above the ground. The pilot, who was alone in the plane, was reportedly unharmed when the aircraft first became caught.
Crews responded to the scene, but the pilot, whose name was not released, eventually fell a few hours later.
He later died from his injuries.
Around 6:30 p.m., a team from the Arkansas Army National Guard departed Camp Robinson to assist in an apparent rescue operation. However, the helicopter returned to Little Rock roughly 20 minutes into the flight, according to FlightAware.com.
