Jessica Turner, 28, of Newport, departed this life on January 19, 2025. She was born in Newport on May 25, 1996, to Jeffery and Dongriel (Sullivan) Turner.
Jessica was a loving and kind-hearted soul whose presence lit up every room she entered. She had a passion for cooking, and her delicious meals often brought family and friends together. She loved watching movies, listening to music, and going for drives, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid reader, Jessica found comfort and inspiration in books, which often fueled her curiosity and creativity.
Jessica was known for her love of socializing and cherished the time she spent with family and friends. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel loved and valued, and her infectious laughter was a source of joy to all who knew her.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Diaz, Jessica found strength and solace in her faith, which guided her through life’s challenges and shaped her compassionate spirit.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jeffery Turner; her daughter, Kamir Moore; her son, Roosevelt Turner; her grandparents, Donna Faye Sullivan, and Rubenstein Turner; her uncle, John Turner; and her aunts, Sheila Howard and Ruthie Turner.
She is survived by her mother, Dongriel Turner of Newport; her momma, Reese Kendal of Newport; her daughter, Rayla Gist of Newport; her brothers, Carl Turner of Newport, Jamal Turner (Alexis) of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Jeffery Turner Jr. of Mustang, Oklahoma; her sister, Dae Sullivan of Newport; her uncles, Gabriel Sullivan (Crystal) of Cave City, Bobby Smith of Newport, and Eddie Turner (Amanda) of Little Rock; uncles, Roosevelt Turner of Oak Grove, Louisianna, Marcella Turner (Sophia) of Akron, Ohio, Joseph Turner of Mansfield, Texas; her aunts, Shannon Ruffin of Newport, Loria Hayes (Darrin) of Oak Grove, Louisianna, Diana Mayes (Joseph) Of Eudora, Victoria Moore (D.J.) of Oak Grove, Louisianna, Verda James of Eudora, Carla Johnson of Newport; nieces and nephews, Meyonna Alcorn, Charlee Turner, Zy’ion Hardaway, Kylen Turner, Ayden, Tatum, Raelynn, Lenox, and Lux; her special friend, Lareanz Moore; and host of extended family and friends who will forever treasure her warm heart, joyful spirit, and enduring love.
Jessica’s life, though far too brief, left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Service will be at 1:00 on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with Hubert Harris officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The interment will be at Blooming Shade Cemetery in Kilborn, Louisianna.
