An Arkansas state representative has introduced legislation to officially rename the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America,” echoing a recent executive order by President Donald Trump.

Rep. Aaron Pilkington (pictured above), R-Knoxville, filed House Resolution 1010, which would mandate the use of “Gulf of America” on all official state maps and documents, according to KUAR in Little Rock.

The bill is set to receive its first legislative review by the House Management Committee, which will be the initial body to debate the proposed name change.
