Margaret Anne “Sissye” (Roberts) Ramsey passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Sissye was born November 16, 1934 in Diaz, Arkansas, the daughter of T.C. and Margaret Roberts.

She graduated from Newport High School in 1952. Fondly known as “Sissye” by many, she dedicated over 20 years of her career to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. In 1978, she transitioned to the banking industry, where she continued to work until her retirement in 2001.

Sissye enjoyed watching television, especially movies with Jimmy Stewart, Clint Eastwood, or Charles Bronson. She was a poet, spending her leisure time writing poetry and working search-a-word puzzles. An avid sports fan, Sissye especially enjoyed cheering on the Golden State Warriors.

A warrior herself, Sissye was a breast cancer survivor of over 16 years. Her strength and determination were evident throughout her treatment and recovery.

Sissye was a longtime member of the Newport First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Frances Deane Larimore; and one niece, Terry Lou Larimore.
