Jonathan Daniel Scarbrough Sr. departed this earthly realm on January 23, 2025.
Jonathan was born January 25, 1949, in Alturas, California to Vearl and Pearl Scarbrough. (Both are now deceased.) He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Loretta Scarbrough of California.
He graduated high school in Dunsmuir, California. After high school, he worked for the railroad for a while, following his father and brother in that profession. A few years later he joined and served honorably in the United States Army completing his career, after 20 years and a day, and retired in September of 1992.
While he was in the military he met and married Kim Marie Foss on June 25th, 1977 at Fort Knox. Together they two had two sons to add to the two he had from a previous marriage.
He enjoyed, in his free time, playing cards, pinochle was his favorite, along with scrabble. He enjoyed his miniature train sets that on occasion he would play with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Kim Scarbrough and sons: Joseph Daniel Scarbrough and his wife Silvia, Timothy James Scarbrough and his wife Tammy, William Scarbrough, Jonathan Daniel Scarbrough and his wife Elise. He has two surviving siblings: Leroy Scarbrough and his wife Joyce, a sister Joyce Scarbrough—a niece Marlette and two great nephews along with a great niece.
He was blessed with three grandchildren: Justin Scarbrough, Jack Scarbrough and Lizzy Scarbrough.
A Memorial will be held at the Kingdom Hall, on White Drive in Batesville, on Friday, February 7, at 7:00 pm.
