Bobby Clemons of Searcy, AR, departed this life on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born July 17, 1947, in Jackson County, the son of Woodford and Eula (Stevens) Clemons.
In his earlier years, Bobby began working on a dredge boat and went on to work at the Steel Mill for twenty-one years. He then took a position in maintenance at Sloan Valve in Augusta, AR, until his retirement. Bobby was a devoted member of Central Missionary Baptist Church in Newport where he spent many years mowing the churchyard.
Bobby was a true outdoorsman at heart. He had a love for riding his jumping mules while coon hunting. When he wasn’t in the woods, he enjoyed going on trail rides and the Chuckwagon Races. He truly loved the simple pleasures of country life. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Clemons; a sister, Shelia White; a grandchild Baby Clemons; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Moorehead) Clemons, of the home; his son, John (Jammie) Clemons, of Searcy, two nieces he raised as daughters, Lesia LaMastus of Fayetteville and Teresa (Joe) Czalski of Arab, AL; three sisters, Linda Sue Frost, Omega (Jim) Williams and Bonnie Lynn Clemons, all of Diaz; two grandchildren, Ian Clemons of Batesville and Christine Clemons of Searcy; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is to be held at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Thursday evening, February 6th beginning at 5 p.m. for family and 6 p.m. for friends until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 7th, at Central Missionary Baptist Church in Newport, with Bro. Albert Mullins & Greg DeWitt officiating. The interment will be in Cheshier Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are James Prine, Jerry White, Jay Simmons, Shane O’Banion, John Pinkley, and Kenny Jiles.
In lieu of flowers, the Clemons family has asked that memorials be made to Searcy First Methodist for the Warming Center Fund at 304 North Main, Searcy, AR 72143.
