The Batesville High School dance team, the Prancers, made history this season with a series of firsts, including earning their first-ever All-Star Dancer, securing multiple All-Star Nominee recognitions, and making their debut at the AAA State Dance Competition.
According to a media release, Senior Olivia Moore (pictured below, center) became the team’s first All-Star Dancer, while Ella Clark (right) and Tisha Cannon (left) received All-Star Nominee honors. Cannon was also named an All-State Recipient for her outstanding performance.
In their first appearance at the AAA State Dance Competition, the Prancers finished seventh overall among 5A/6A teams. They also placed fourth in 5A and fifth overall in Fight Song, fifth in 5A and eighth overall in Spirit Raising, and fifth in 5A and fifth overall in Performance Routine.
“This season has been one for the record books,” Prancers Coach Mary Cox said. “These dancers have poured their hearts into their routines, and I am beyond proud of what they’ve accomplished—not just for themselves, but for the future of this program.”
Batesville High School Principal Kevin Bledsoe commended the team’s success and highlighted Cox’s role in its growth.
“It’s incredible to see our Prancers etch their names in history with these achievements,” Bledsoe said. “What makes it even more special is that their coach, Mary Wood Cox, is a BHS and Prancer alum who has brought her personal experience and passion for dance to this program. She has truly elevated this team to new heights.”
