A Jonesboro man faces a felony after allegedly threatening to kill a police officer and bomb his house.

Zakary Lee Swanson (pictured below), 25, is being held on $100,000 bond for one count of felony terroristic threatening.

According to court documents, Swanson drove to the Batesville Police Department at 4:17 a.m. Feb. 1 and told Cpl. Melissa Wilkey he needed to be arrested because he was driving a stolen vehicle.

Swanson referenced a previous case where he claimed another Batesville officer had pointed a gun at him and falsely charged him with assault. He then told Wilkey that upon release from jail, he would kill the officer, according to the arrest affidavit.

After being taken into custody, Swanson began ranting and threatened to find the officer’s address and bomb his house, the affidavit said.

Officials later determined the vehicle belonged to a Missouri church and was used by a Piggott, Arkansas, sober house. A contact at the sober house said Swanson had permission to use the vehicle to drive people to work in Piggott, but not to drive to Batesville. The night before, the contact told authorities that Swanson had returned after taking people to work but then left again with the vehicle, the affidavit said.

Swanson remains in the Independence County Jail.
