A registered sex offender is in custody on a $50,000 bond after authorities discovered he was not living at his registered address.
On Jan. 25, Batesville Police Officer Mike Mundy was verifying registered sex offenders within the city limits when he found that Xavier H. Corter (pictured below), 20, was not living—and had never lived—at the Broad Street address he listed in his September 2024 registration, according to court documents.
An arrest warrant for Corter was issued on Feb. 3, and he was taken into custody on Feb. 9.
He remains in the Independence County Jail on one felony count of failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements.
