Brenda Carrizales, 73, of Newport, passed from this life on February 10, 2025. She was born in Newport on September 19, 1951, to Sherman and Dessie (Laird) Shelley.
Brenda had a creative and loving spirit, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a talented artist, winning multiple drawing contests, and she loved crocheting and shopping on Temu, always finding special things for her loved ones. However, her greatest joy came from being with her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.
Brenda’s faith was strong, and she often said that Jesus was her best friend. She was of the Pentecostal faith, and her unwavering belief gave her strength throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Norman and Raymond Shelley, and her sister, Jennie Rae McCoy.
She is survived by her children, Nicky Carrizales (Diania), Tonya Carrizales (Hebert Cornelious), and Tiffany Carrizales (Joe Walker), all of Newport; her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
At this time, no services are planned. Brenda will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
