Obituary: Thomas Richard Henderson

Thomas Richard Henderson, 63, passed away on February 11, 2025, in Fort Smith, AR. He was born on March 24, 1961, in Newport, AR, to the late Ardy Lee Henderson and Lucy (McClain) Henderson. A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Richard, lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.

A proud Army veteran, Richard dedicated many years of his life to serving his country with honor. His service was a testament to his strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to others.

Richard never met a stranger- his warm heart and easygoing nature made everyone feel like family. An outdoorsman at heart, he found his greatest joy in fishing, grilling, and simply spending time outside. Whether casting a line or cooking up a feast on the grill, he cherished the moments shared with family and friends.

Above all else, Richard loved his family. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment he had with them. His legacy of kindness, strength, and love will live on in the hearts forever. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Ardy Lee and Lucy Henderson, six siblings, his previous wife; Melanie Henderson, and his father-in-law; Leonard Wood.

Richard is survived by his lovely wife of five years, Fayla Henderson; his sons, Thomas Henderson (Leslie), Bryan Henderson (Felicia), Jeremy Henderson (Abbie), and Brady Wood; his daughters, Angela Heath, Emily Money (Charlie); his grandchildren, Britney, Brandon, Jake, Richard, Austin, Greyson, Ethan, Tucker, Beckett, Finnick, Oliver, and  yet “to” be born, who will know him through the love and stories shared by family, Theodore and his sister; Linda McWilliams, as well as numerous other extended family members.

There will be a visitation held at Willis Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 5 PM until 7 PM. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Willis funeral chapel at 2 PM, which is officiated by Bro. Shannon Fennell, will follow with interment at Union Grove Cemetery in Pleasant Plains, Ar. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Silas Owens, Chuck Miller, Ken Burns, John Cox, Adam Hart, and Chad Frout. Honorary Pallbearers are Brandon, Jake, Richard, Austin, Greyson, Ethan, Tucker, Beckett, Finnick and Oliver.
