
Betty (Wilson) Vines Ragsdale of Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly of Newport, departed this life on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born April 15, 1939, in the Stegall community of Newport, the daughter of Gus and Agnes Lorene (Hagar) Wilson.
Mrs. Ragsdale graduated from Grubbs High School and was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of Stoneridge Church of Christ.
Mrs. Ragsdale was a wonderful cook, and her family especially loved her homemade hot yeast rolls. She was very creative and enjoyed painting and crocheting. She loved reading, singing, and watching Hallmark movies. Mrs. Ragsdale was a loving grandma, and her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Ragsdale was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilburn Vines; her husband, John Ragsdale; step-children, Ricky Ragsdale and Phyllis Jackson; two brothers, Glen Wilson and Carl Wilson; and her parents.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Gregory of Jonesboro and Sherry Engle and husband, Rex, of Sikeston, Missouri; two brothers, Billy Wilson of Memphis, Tennessee and Michael Wilson of Newport; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit Jackson’s Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Following visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. Dick Blackford officiating. The interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Rodney Ivie, Randy Ivie, Jason Gregory, Jesse Stevens, Zachery Ivie, and Drew Stevens.
