Arkansas State University-Newport (ASUN) has recorded a 12.8% increase in enrollment for the Spring 2025 semester, according to a release from the institution.
The university enrolled 2,099 students, up from 1,860 in Spring 2024.
University officials attribute the increase to student retention efforts and expanded early college opportunities. Continuing students comprise the largest portion of enrollment, with 970 students, or 46% of the total. Concurrent enrollment, which allows high school students to earn college credit, accounts for 641 students, or 31%. The university also enrolled 113 freshmen and 113 transfer students, each comprising 5% of total enrollment.
“This growth is a testament to ASUN’s commitment to student success,” Chancellor Johnny M. Moore said. “Students recognize the value of an ASUN education, and we’re proud to provide opportunities that help them achieve their academic and career goals.”
Moore credited the university’s student-focused approach for the rise in enrollment, emphasizing efforts to support both traditional and nontraditional students.
“With nearly half of our students continuing their studies at ASUN and a strong concurrent enrollment program, we’re seeing firsthand the impact of our student-focused approach,” he said.
ASUN has experienced multiple semesters of enrollment growth, a trend university leaders say underscores its focus on accessibility and workforce development, the release said.
